Checks, Vets and Refs
It’s critically important to us at Granny as Nanny that all the right checks are carried out to ensure that we can make a positive – and safe – match between nanny and family.
This is why we request the details of FOUR referees from prospective nannies so that we can carry out the appropriate checks (additionally, we would urge parents to follow up all references that are provided, either by phone or by email). If you have been out of the work place for more than five years, we can discuss with you who best might provide written references for you.
In addition, DBS checks are mandatory for any nanny wishing to register with us.
The DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) conducts background and criminal record checks on behalf of employers across England and Wales.
Although DBS checks are not required by law, they allow potential employers to make suitable – and safe – hiring decisions, which is why, at Granny as Nanny, DBS checks are mandatory.
